About Tracey

Home has always been important to me – growing up as an Air Force brat, my family moved often, and I’ve lived in places from Puerto Rico to Michigan.  Even when we didn’t stay in a new town long, my mom always made each new house into a place of comfort and security. She filled our home with art and art books, and there was always a project – sewing, painting, mosaics, gardening – in the works.  It was here that I first developed my love of textiles and design, with my mom teaching me to sew, to paint, to make things that were beautiful, personal, and unique.

I got my BA in Art/Textiles and Business from Eastern Washington University, and have a Certificate in Custom Window Treatments and Sewing.  My work has been featured in seven Baltimore Symphony Decorator Show Houses, Window and Wall Magazine, Style Magazine, the Baltimore Sun, and seven Historic Ellicott City Decorator Show Houses, as well as beautiful homes across the US and even the Middle East.

After 20-some years in the suburbs, I’m currently enjoying life in Baltimore City (and while I’m a designer, my favorite title will always be “mom” – I love hanging out with my awesome daughter).  I’m always creating something – baking, cooking, gardening, sewing, or costuming on the side – and I love going for walks around our wonderful Hampden neighborhood, entertaining friends with food and board games, enjoying some of our excellent local coffee shops, and taking the occasional day trip up to New York for a Broadway show when we can.

The idea of “home” is epitomized, for me, by the house we eventually settled in and where I largely grew up, on Woodside Avenue in Spokane, WA.  Our home was a place where everyone was welcomed with a friendly face and delicious food; a house filled with colorful furnishings and beautiful art; a comfortable home surrounded by lovely gardens.  After 25 years in the interior design business, I’m still always thrilled to be involved in a new home design project, whether it’s a few window treatments in the living room or a whole house redesign.  My passion is helping others create such a home, one that is a haven and a respite for the people and things that they love.  It’s always an honor to be a part of that process – I love bonding over color and fabric selections, and the excitement my clients feel when they realize the possibilities of their home. I want you to feel the warmth and welcome of a home that’s tailored to you and your life, just like I felt the warmth of the Woodside home of my youth.
